I'm back, and I'm bad
I'm back in Brisbane, folks. Hopefully there are still some people out there reading, but I'm beginning to doubt it. Meh.
Coming back was rather weird... the disjointed feeling happened again, but only two days after I arrived back. Anyway, I'm jumping ahead of myself, I'll tell you the stories I've told all my friends.
My flight back was a creche flight - i.e. >20 kids under the age of two, all screaming and crying the whole way. Every time I tried to take a nap, some kid would randomly let out a shrill cry and drag me back to consciousness. Evil little tykes.
Got back, went home to dump stuff and get ready to go to the Denny's, but I had to ride my motorbike. It's still just as fun as when I left it. Arrived at Jess's to surprise her, but there's a pattern I'm noticing with girls. They don't handle surprise well. There's two options that a guy can take:
- You build up to the surprise so much that they can guess what's coming, but they still love it anyway.
- You surprise them out of the blue, and it's such a surprise that it doesn't register - it's fried their brains and then they just giggle and then stay dumbfounded for the next couple of hours.
Jess chose the second womanly option. I stayed for dinner at the Denny's, then got carted off to a farewell party for Aaron. The next day, saw Narnia, and then went to visit Susie, who was housesitting, then after two hours of Gilmore Girls (I will deny that I ever watched that show) I went back home to Toowong.
This is where the disjointedness kicked in, it felt like things were closing in again, and I just kept of things to put on my to-do list. Eventually I promised myself that I wouldn't do any work until Monday, and so I eventually dropped off to sleep at about 1am. I think it was because of the coke that my mind wouldn't stop running.
Church was alright, might talk to you people out there in blogland in person if you ask me about it but yeah, it was alright, and then I went home intending to do work. I then remembered that I'd promised myself not to do work, so I watched scrubs for the rest of the afternoon. Now I'm back at work at the helpdesk with plenty of time to spare. It'll still take awhile to get back into the swing of things. But yeah. Disjointedness - tis a funny feeling, like reality isn't quite right - and your brain tends to shut down to try and avoid it.
So yes... a summary of what's been happening... I've come back. I hung out with the wonderful Jess. I watched Scrubs. And of course my mind's been having too many thoughts to actually put down on paper. So yes.
Have fun with the rest of your holidays, uni people! They're halfway over! Well, except for Pat. Sorry mate.
