First Draft

Hey all,

Here's an entry into a competition that I've been working on for a few days - tell us what you think, any critiques etc etc - I'm not entering it until next month so there's time for some tweaks :)

The competition asked for a 30 second visual representation of Triple J, so I made them a commercial.

Enjoy!

Hmm... Actually my first thought after watching it a day after I made it is that perhaps I should avoid the dig at commercial radio - then I'd have more time to pace out the transformation of the boom box into Triple J's fantastical universe of splendour... lol

For some reason when I watch it the "Later that day..." only stays on the screen for half a second (not long enough for me to read it without pausing).

I like most the effects and the artistic 'feel' of it.

Doesn't feel complete though. Can you say briefly what you're intending to communicate through it? Then I'd have a better opinion on whether it achieves what you're after.

(Feeling very analytical in the midst of assignment writing...)

A good advertisement for Triple J. Though I am not a big fan of Triple J. What sort of video advertisement preparation services would you be able to provide?

That was cool. I like the "Buy me" part of it and I think it's effective. How did you do all the animation?

not trying to give conflicting opinions here (sorry jennifah!!) but personally i dont think the dig at commerical radio was really necessary - and as you said, for a thirty second video it takes up a lot of space, which could probably be used better to promote the triple j image/experience. thirty seconds is just long enough to put across one message (triple j is good), not two messages (triple j is good, commercial radio is bad). does that make sense? anyway, just my opinion. apart form that, the graphics/animation is really effective and it looks quite professional. good job!

That was really awesome Luke. I really loved the dig at commercial radio. It's a nasty poison full of all things linkin park and 50 cent and pussycat dolls mere sounds masquerading as something musical. And the ads are infuriating.
I shudder everytime I think of the bus to school with ads saying "Serena Russo institute of tafe. Send us some more Serena! Send us some more! Why not you????!! Why not now??!@&1"
If that doesn't make you want to leap out of your seat and rip the 10 watt radio out of its slot, nothing will!
I think as is, the ad captures quite nicely the Triple J style. They have the occaisional ad on during late night rage and during the daytime where some lame pop star gets belted with a mic with a Triple J logo on it which is so cute!!
Next beat the drum competition we are going in it!
