The perks

This workplace, the main helpline at QUT, just seems to keep getting better. Today we're celebrating one of the casual staff members becoming an Australian Citizen - by having a morning tea with Australian themed things like macadamia biscuits, lamingtons, timtams & pavlova. I'm really enjoying my work.

=D

Was there a warning on your employment contract about the health risks associated with your new workplace?

Luke, did you do a risk assessment for that morning tea? Do you realise the risks involved in such an event? Did you even think about the content of the food? I think your workplace needs to be a bit more careful. And I hope you had some anzac biscuits in there, and you better not have consumed any American carbonated drinks.

Kung Hei Fat Choi! :) Yep, I called my mum and said it to mum & dad, and they sent me a "virtual" red packet =D

Health Risks... no, no warnings here. Perhaps I should sue?

Risk assessment? I filed that one under NMJ - Not My Job.

oh yeah - there were some anzac bikkies as well :) and a big aussie flag hung from a desk, and little flags on sticks were around everywhere.

Flags on sticks can impale people. The large flag could have suffocated somone. There definitely should have been a risk assessment.

Risk assessment for Luke's workplace:

POSSIBLE RISKS OCCURING IN THE WORKPLACE:

Electrocution from computers
Impalement from flags
Choking on anzac biscuits
Suffocation from large flag

PREVENTION OF INCIDENTS:
Keep water and drinks away from computers. All persons must maintain a distance of 1m from any computer at all times.

Impalement on flags: all staff should keep away from flags. The elected person setting out and packing up the flags must wear protective clothing and gloves, as well as enclosed shoes. In fact, everyone wear enclosed shoes.

Choking on anzac biscuits: all personnel must report to an anzac biscuit-eating training session prior to morning tea. If you have not been trained, you cannot partake in the eating of the biscuits. Please note that if you have had training in chocolate chip biscuit eating, you will still be required to attend this training session.

Suffocation from large flag: staff will be required to maintain their distance from the large flag. Also, a buddy system will be in place, so that anyone caught in the flag will not go unnoticed.

Please enjoy your morning tea!
